Two-step Admission Procedure

  • Get started by applying for our Master Programme in History (=General Admission)
  • When successfully being enrolled in our History Programme apply for Matilda

General Admission

Due to the integration into the History Master's programme back in 2017 the admission to the History Master's programme at the University of Vienna precedes the Matilda application process. All information (as well as general entry requirements (a.o. language proficiency)) are to be found on this homepage.

For the admission to degree programmes a proof of German knowledge at level C1 is required.

Once you are formally enrolled for our History Master, you can apply for MATILDA.

MATILDA Application Requirements

MATILDA SP applicants are required to submit the following documents via eMail:

  • One letter of motivation in German, English or French
  • Two letters of academic reference (in closed envelopes or per email)
  • A current CV
  • One copy of BA certificate
  • Enrolment certificate (Inskriptions/Studienbestätigung).

Please submit the documents in one .pdf file. The average time for a decision to be made is two weeks (in rare cases it can take longer). Then, you will be informed of your application status via email.

Be aware that we shall only consider complete applications!

Further details to take into account

Still, take the following into account in order to not delay admission to the Matilda course specialisation:

  1. Admission deadlines for the Master's programme
  2. Matilda application processing duration
  3. Course registration deadlines: for the Winter term the registration window opens in early September and closes in mid to late September. Course registration for the Summer term starts and ends in February.
